London Theatre Breaks New Shows -
Backbeat The Musical
Backbeat is the musical stage adaptation of Iain Softley's hit 1994 film about the early life of Britain's most-famous musical export, The Beatles. The show is set in early 1960s Hamburg: the time the band spent together before Paul McCartney replaced Stuart Sutcliffe and Beatlemania swept the globe.
Rock of Ages
It's 1987 and Los Angeles' famous Sunset Strip is proving to be a magnet for aspiring rockers and small town girls with big city dreams. Rock of Ages is a rockin' musical about big dreams and big hair, featuring music from the likes of Whitesnake, Bon Jovi and Journey
War Horse
This is the story of Albert and his beloved horse who is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France during the First World War. Albert goes on a quest to find his horse in the trenches of battlefield.
Pitmen and Painters
A thought-provoking drama about the lives of members of the Ashington Group, The Pitmen Painters is by Billy Elliot writer, Lee Hall. The story follows a group of Newcastle miners who, in 1934, hired a professor to teach an art appreciation evening class.
Jerusalem
Already a successful production, Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem transferred to the West End in 2010 after a sell-out run at the Royal Court. It then achieved considerable success on Broadway before returning to London for its current run at the Apollo. The play is set on St George's Day and tells the tale of Johnny Byron, a countryside waster, modern day Pied Piper and wanted man.
