Synopsis
Backbeat is the musical stage adaptation of Iain Softley's hit 1994 film about the early life of Britain's most-famous musical export, The Beatles. The show is set in early 1960s Hamburg: the time the band spent together before Paul McCartney replaced Stuart Sutcliffe and Beatlemania swept the globe. Backbeat focusses on the troubled relationship between Stuart Sutcliffe (the band's original bassist), John Lennon and Astrid Kirchherr, the German photographer with whom Sutcliffe fell in love and eventually forsook The Beatles for. With live performances of Long Tall Sally, Please Mr Postman, Twist & Shout and Money, Backbeat promises to be an unforgettable show for fans of The Beatles.
